26.02.2025 – The Union of Cypriots took part in the launch of CODEPINK’s new international campaign UK-US Bases Off Cyprus, amplifying the Cypriot voice in the struggle against Britain’s colonial military presence on the island. Speaking on behalf of the Union of Cypriots, Oz Karahan delivered a powerful address situating the British bases within the broader architecture of imperialism, linking them to the NATO-backed Turkish occupation, Zionist settler-colonialism, and decades of divide-and-rule strategies. He stressed that liberating Cyprus is not only essential for Cypriots, but also a decisive step toward weakening imperialism across West Asia and North Africa, and reaffirmed solidarity with the Palestinian struggle. Among the other speakers were Jeremy Corbyn (Peace and Justice Project, Independent MP) and Matt Kennard (investigative journalist who reported on the role of RAF bases in Cyprus in facilitating the U.S.-Israeli genocide in Gaza).

20.07.2024 – 20 July 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the NATO-planned Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974.
For half a century, imperialist occupation and settler colonialism have persisted on the island, with ongoing colonial policies oppressing Turkish-speaking Cypriots and preventing Greek-speaking Cypriots, forcibly displaced during the Turkish invasion, from returning to their homes. Imperialists use these policies to enforce ethnically-based segregation among the Cypriot people through plans like the “bi-zonal bi-communal federation” and the “two-state” arrangement, in order to keep their presence on the island.

11.07.2024 – The Union of Cypriots participated in the 7th International Assembly of the largest global formation of anti-imperialist organizations, the International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS), on June 21-24, 2024, in Penang, Malaysia. The assembly hosted 535 participants, consisting of 432 delegates from 192 ILPS member organizations and 103 observers.

25.05.2024 – As Union of Cypriots, we organized the event “Cypriot Republicans: The Struggle for Unitary State and Constitutional Citizenship” and presented the Honorary Award we give annually in memory of the Cypriot leader Ihsan Ali. This year, our Honorary Award was given to Ibrahim Aziz, who inspired us with his struggle. In 2022, we did not have the opportunity to present the award to the representatives of the Project “Season of Women”, which adapted the struggle of the “Women Walk Home” into a theater play. At this event, we finally had the chance to present the award to Magdalena Zira and Nedie Antoniades, representatives of the Project “Season of Women”.

Onur Ödülümüz, bu sene mücadeleciliğiyle bize yol gösteren İbrahim Aziz’e verildi. 2022 yılında “Kadınların Eve Dönüş Yürüyüşü” mücadelesini tiyatroya uyarlayan “Sezon Kadınlar” Projesine ödüllerini takdim etme fırsatı bulamamıştık. Bu etkinlikte projenin temsilcilerinden Magdalena Zira ve Nedie Antoniades’e de ödüllerini takdim ettik.

25.05.2024 – Ως Ένωσις Κυπρίων, διοργανώσαμε την εκδήλωση «Κύπριοι Ρεπουμπλικάνοι: Ο Αγώνας για Ενιαίο Κράτος και Συνταγματική Ιθαγένεια» και παρουσιάσαμε το Τιμητικό Βραβείο που απονέμουμε κάθε χρόνο εις μνήμην του Κύπριου ηγέτη Ιχσάν Αλί. Φέτος, το Τιμητικό μας Βραβείο δόθηκε στον Ιμπραήμ Αζίζ, ο οποίος μας ενέπνευσε με τον αγώνα του. Το 2022, δεν είχαμε την ευκαιρία να απονείμουμε το βραβείο στις εκπροσώπους του πρότζεκτ ΣΕΖΟΝ Γυναίκες, το οποίο διασκεύασε τον αγώνα του «Οι γυναίκες επιστρέφουν» σε θεατρικό έργο. Σε αυτή την εκδήλωση, είχαμε την ευκαιρία να απονέμουμε τελικά το βραβείο στη Μαγδαλένα Ζήρα και τη Νέδη Αντωνιάδου, εκπροσώπους του πρότζεκτ «ΣΕΖΟΝ Γυναίκες».

30.03.2023 – Her ikisi de denizden iki komşu ve iki eski Osmanlı ve İngiliz sömürgesi olan Kıbrıs ve Filistin, iç içe geçmiş bölünme ve işgal süreçleri yaşamıştır. Filistin’in hikayesi 1917’de İngiliz sömürgecilerin Filistin topraklarını Siyonistlere “vaat etmesiyle” başladı. Kıbrıs’ın hikayesi ise 1878 yılında Osmanlıların Kıbrıs’ı İngilizlere kiralamasıyla başladı.

22.02.2022 – Trapped in the northern part of Cyprus, Turkish-speaking Cypriots are trying to continue their lives under the oppression of the Turkish occupation. The social, cultural and economic pressures they have been experiencing since 1974 have been increased more than ever before. Cypriots, who constitute a small part of the population living in the occupied northern region of Cyprus, are forced to migrate from their homeland by Turkey as a result of the socio-economic pressures they are exposed to due to the settler colonialism initiated by Turkey after the occupation.

22.02.2022 – Παγιδευμένοι στο βόρειο τμήμα της Κύπρου, οι Τουρκόφωνοι Κύπριοι προσπαθούν να συνεχίσουν τη ζωή τους υπό την καταπίεση της τουρκικής κατοχής. Οι κοινωνικές, πολιτιστικές και οικονομικές πιέσεις που βιώνουν από το 1974 έχουν αυξηθεί περισσότερο από ποτέ. Οι Κύπριοι, που αποτελούν ένα μικρό μέρος του πληθυσμού που ζει στην κατεχόμενη βόρεια περιοχή της Κύπρου, αναγκάζονται από την Τουρκία να μεταναστεύσουν από την πατρίδα τους ως αποτέλεσμα των κοινωνικοοικονομικών πιέσεων που δέχονται λόγω της εποικιστικής αποικιοκρατίας που ξεκίνησε μετά την κατοχή.

Kıbrıs’ın işgal altındaki kuzey bölgesinde yaşayan nüfusun küçük bir kısmını oluşturan Kıbrıslılar işgal sonrasında Türkiye’nin başlattığı yerleşimci kolonyalizmi sebebiyle de maruz kaldıkları sosyo-ekonomik baskılar neticesinde Türkiye tarafından vatanlarından göç etmeye zorlanmaktadırlar.
